Political Science

Major Description: We examine the fundamental issues facing society today–like globalization, war, inequality, poverty, and environmental change — and evaluate the processes, policies, and theories that have been devised to address them. We study the different forms of government, individual and institutional behavior in the public sphere, relationships among nation-states, and political theory. We also offer a minor in Health, Law & Policy.

My Description: In today’s fast-moving political climate, it is of the utmost importance to be politically informed. UNE offers students the ability to study forms of government, international relationships, political theory, and more.

What I learned: This class helped shaped my interest in politics, I learned so much. I learned about government and how it works. What is interesting to me is that America is not divided solely by Democrats and Republicans, but then it also is extremely divided. America’s political scene is always changing and moving and I am so excited to learn more. We did a mock congress project and I learned how to propose bills, furthermore, I learned how difficult it is to get your bill passed. The biggest take away I got from this class is that politics is time-consuming, often frustrating, and ever-changing. Yet, you can make real change, and you can make a positive impact on the world.
